Demiran Cerimovic and his orchestra « The Perles of Vranje » are Rroma living in a small town of Vranje in Southern Serbia. With their traditonnal rroma music, they’ve been playing on all kind of rroma and world music festivals in Serbia and above since 1997. Seven times they won the price of the best brass band rroma orchestra at « Vlasinsko leto » summer festival and twice (in 2002 and 2006) at the famous Guca brass band festival, the most important of its kind in Europe. It is also in Serbia, her country, that Simona Jovic, famous romani dancer, specialized in rromani dances, made her first dance steps. But even before dancing, already as very young, she sang the traditionnal rroma songs. With Demiran Cerimovic and his nine musicians, she will return to the source of her passion for the rroma culture. Together, they present the joy of traditionnal rroma music and dance from the Balkans, especially the famous coceks so typical for the Vranje area.
